Mad Magazine Fans

hi i'm new to the comm. i recently came across a box of old comics and mad magazines that were my girlfriends fathers. they are all early 60's and in mint condition i looked on a mad price guide and it says they are worth between 50 and 100 bucks a piece. but when i look on ebay all i see is people selling similar issues for like 5 bucks a piece. they are in worse condition and aren't usually as old as these but i want to know if anyone has had any luck selling older issues and if so whats the best way to do it? or should i just settle for the $50 i'm gonna get on ebay?

This is a classic case study of free market economics versus the command-directed economy.

The value of something, is what that thing will bring. If I showed you a book - the Word of Authority - that said those magazines are worth five thousand dollars apiece, would you believe it? Why believe it now?

What you're selling is in better condition than what is getting five dollars. Obviously, therefore, what you have is worth more. How much more? Find out for yourself. Write the best description of the magazines that you can, emphasize that they've been stored in what amounts to a "time capsule," untouched for decades - include scans, photographs - and set the price at, what did you say, $50 to $100 an issue. If they sell, swell. If they don't - lower the price until they do.

That's how you find out how much they're "worth" - by finding out what people will pay for them!
