The assumption of education among its readers, is what I wish to point out. The victims of today's Federal "schools" could not, in all probability, even say what languages those are, let alone read them. Just for their information, I will mention that these do link up, with one slightly goofy exception.

i study russian but i think it's

A-3 spanish

B-4 french

C-1 german

D-2 italian... I came I saw I conquered... not sure how that fits

so what was your point here? the older generation of MAD readers were more educated and today's don't get the jokes as well or that MAD has dumbed down?

Yes, to both. What made that funny is that the jokes did, indeed, match to their punchlines - with, as I said, the one goofy exception, which was made a joke by its inclusion.

when a product has been created to distribute to the masses, one will realize that it has to evolve, or in some cases, dissolve with the times. can't exactly produce intellectually funny material when a good portion of your readers are under-educated.
anyone note that mad has come out with a kidsMAD?
Fuck that shit. Fuck it hard and throw it out. If the kid doesn't get the joke then he shouldn't be reading the magazine. It angers me to no end, and probably for no good reason, when I see Mad Magazine sitting in the same place as Disney's Adventure.

Indeed, it caters to the more sophisticated reader...not many of us left! I started when I was nine and haven't stopped since. Kids are such idiots. Honestly. I bet that if this was Europe, the people reading this would get the jokes, a, because most of those languages are European, and b, because they don't produce such god-awful idiots. Kinder eggs are no longer being sold in the US now because kids are choking on them. [They think the little toy inside is food.]
